Are you dealing with a painful, unsightly, or annoying lump under your skin? You don’t have to live with it. At Goal BMI in Downtown Brooklyn, Dr. Sergey Terushkin provides quick, minimally invasive removal of cysts and lipomas.
Whether you have excellent health insurance or no insurance at all, we believe everyone deserves professional surgical care. We offer transparent self-pay pricing and accept most major insurance plans.
While some patients visit dermatologists for these issues, seeing a Board-Certified General Surgeon like Dr. Terushkin ensures a higher standard of care, especially for deep or recurrent cysts.
Complete Removal: Dr. Terushkin specializes in removing the entire cyst sac (capsule). If the sac is left behind (which is common with “popping” or drainage), the cyst will likely grow back.
Minimal Scarring: We use plastic surgery closure techniques to ensure your incision heals as a faint, barely visible line.
Pathology Testing: For your peace of mind, the removed tissue is sent for biopsy to rule out any severe conditions.

We treat various soft tissue masses at our Court Street facility.
These are the most common. They are often round, movable lumps that may have a central “punctum” (blackhead). They can become infected, swollen, and painful if left untreated.
Soft, doughy lumps situated just under the skin. They are non-cancerous growths of fat cells. While usually painless, they can grow quite large and become uncomfortable or cosmetically bothersome.
Similar to sebaceous cysts, but found almost exclusively on the scalp. They feel firmer and are often caused by hair follicles.
Fluid-filled lumps that typically develop along the tendons or joints of your wrists or hands.

Forget the hospital. We perform cyst and lipoma removals right here in our sterile procedure room in Brooklyn.
We break down the barriers to care.
✅ Using Insurance: We accept most major NY insurance plans. If the cyst is painful, infected, or irritated, removal is typically considered “medically necessary” and covered.
✅ Self-Pay / No Insurance: High deductible? No coverage? We offer Flat-Rate Cash Pricing. Avoid the surprise bills of a hospital ER. We provide a clear, upfront price that includes the consultation, local anesthesia, the procedure, and the follow-up visit.

Q: Will the cyst grow back?
A: If Dr. Terushkin removes the entire cyst sac (the outer shell), the chance of recurrence is extremely low (less than 5%). If you drain a cyst at home, it will almost certainly fill up again. Surgical excision is the only permanent cure.
Q: Does insurance cover cyst removal?
A: Usually, yes. If the cyst is inflamed, painful, impairs movement, or becomes infected, insurance covers its removal. If it is purely for cosmetic reasons (a tiny bump that doesn’t bother you), it may be out-of-pocket. We will check your benefits for free.
Q: Does the procedure hurt?
A: You will feel a slight “pinch” when the numbing medicine is injected. After that, you will feel pressure, but zero pain during the actual removal.
Q: Do you treat cysts on the face or scalp?
A: Yes. Dr. Terushkin is skilled in delicate removals on the face, neck, and scalp, prioritizing aesthetic results to minimize scarring.
